12 December 2009
Dear
Youth and families,
Happy Holiday Season! First of all, congratulations to our
gingerbread contest winners, Sydney and Carrie! Since it has been a busy few
weeks, we would like to update you on the coming Youth Calendar. As always, if
you have any questions, please feel free to call or e-mail Catherine (krusec11@mail.wlu.edu,
314-952-6882) Mayumi (mayumi_smitka@yahoo.com,
540-460-1244) or Howard (
pickhy@yahoo.com)
This Saturday, December 12th (the calendar says the 11th,
but it will be on the 12th), we will be having a youth Pizza and
Movie Night, from 6 to 9 and we’ll begin in the Parish Hall at 6, go to
Salerno’s for dinner and return to the Church for a movie. Sunday, December 13,
after the service (around noon), we will meet for a Youth and Family Brunch.
Each family should bring a dish to share. Please e-mail or call me with the dish
and your RSVP for both days so that we can ensure that we will have enough food
to go around.
On Saturday, December 19th, we will participate in the
Rockbridge Christmas Basket program starting at the Virginia Horse Center from 8
to noon. Please contact Sharon or Mayumi if you need a ride to the Center. We
also need drivers to deliver the Christmas Baskets and for the Angel Tree
Ministry at E. E. Lee. To help or drive, please contact Sharon Massie. We will
have Youth on that Sunday, December the 20th.
On Sundays, December 27th and January 3rd, we
will not have Youth Group so that you can celebrate your holiday seasons
peacefully! We will begin Youth again on January 10th and start to
focus on our theme of the year, which is hunger in Rockbridge County.
Another event that we will participate in later is Youth @ Council,
which is in Roanoke from January 29th to the 31st. This
is a great way to meet other youth and their leaders, and we encourage you to
mark it off on your calendars. Catherine and possibly another youth minister
(Howard or Mayumi) will be present to help chaperone the event, and we will get
the information about the weekend to you as soon as possible. For information
about Youth @ Council check out http://youth.dioswva.org/Youth%20Events/youth-at-council.html
As always, we want to thank you for your participation in Youth this
year and hope that this season is finding you well. We can’t tell you how
blessed we are to work with such a great group of Middle and High School! We
can’t wait to work with you in the following year, and hope that you have a
great Holiday Season!
Yours
In Christ,
Catherine, Mayumi, and Howard
