SUNDAY MORNINGS
Nursery
The nursery provides a loving, nurturing environment for
infants and toddlers during both morning services and
the Christian Education hour.
Sunday School, 9:15 to 10:15 AM
(for ages 3 to high school)
Sunday School starts at 9:15 in the choir room on the 3rd
floor of the Parish House. We gather around the piano to learn and sing fun songs and new
hymns, to celebrate God’s love and build our Sunday
School community. We recess to our individual classes
shortly before 9:30.
The Sunday School curriculum for children is
Weaving God’s Promises.
Weaving God’s Promises is a three-year Christian
education program for children ages 3 (preschool) to
11-12 (5th-6th grade). The curriculum was developed and
written exclusively for the Episcopal Church. It’s
titled Weaving God’s Promises after the process
of faith formation in which we learn how God’s promises
of salvation are inextricably woven into our lives.
The goal of Weaving God’s Promises is to teach
children the way of Christ, not only in the church but
also in the world, and to give them a solid grounding
for future youth formation programs, which in turn will
prepare them for Christian adulthood.
The 6th and 7th grade classes use
the David C. Cook Real Life Downloaded series.
A year long confirmation class is available for 8th
graders.
Practicing Christianity
This class for high school teens operates under the
belief that Christ calls us to use the whole self
(heart, mind, and body) to love both God and neighbor.
Consequently, the course aims to help each student to
integrate the theological, liturgical, and ethical
aspects of our faith into one coherent life in Christ.
Children’s Chapel
For children ages 3 through 3rd grade
The children attend church with their parents. After the
Gospel, the priest blesses the children and they recess,
led by the cross, to our Children’s Chapel where they
lead an abbreviated service and learn about the meaning
of liturgy and observances of the church year. After the
children experience their own creative worship time they
process back into the church, to join their parents for
Holy Communion.
Wonderful Wednesdays, September-May
Godly Play
(ages 3 through first grade)
3:15 to 4:15 session
Godly
Play provides a time and a space for children to engage
with God
and with the story of God’s people in the Bible. A Godly
Play session
includes a time to gather in a circle with music and
singing, a time to
listen to a story, a time of wondering, and a time for
children to respond
to the story through their choice of art materials.
Godly Play does not meet during Lent.
St. Francis Choir
(Second grade and up)
3:15 to 4:15 rehearsal
St. Francis Choir is all about the joy of singing. We
learn to sing in a
healthy way, to read music, and to be leaders in our
worship. Since we
are a Christian community, every rehearsal begins and
ends with prayer.
St. Francis Choir sings on Sunday mornings at least once
a month. We
also have special events planned for the year, including
the Christmas pageant. |
